We propose the identification of biomarkers that allow the verification of rice seeds registered in the Spanish Plant Variety Office, as well as the digitalization of such information through the creation of a database that contains characteristic digital fingerprints.
The current verification methods -genetic analysis, mainly- are time-consuming and slow, thus complicating its applicability in the industry. The use of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) with subsequent data treatment, will permit the development of a Machine Learning model based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, capable of distinguishing between different types of samples, verifying their identity. Thus, this approach is presented as a viable, fast, economic, routine technique for seed verification.
Besides, this project aims to develop a tool for the Spanish Plant Variety Office to identify new varieties, and to register them.
